                        The Veds are considered to be the most ancient Hindu text in the world. The Veds are  the large body of vast knowledge and text, the religious and spiritual teachings of which encompasses all aspects of life. Vedas contain hymns dedicated to Hindu deities, mantras, various chants and songs of devotion 
                        The first Ved is Rigved also called as the book of Mantras. Rigved is the oldest Hindu holy book. It consists of of a collection of 1,028 poems grouped into 10 "mandals" (books)


                         Many of the mantras in the Rigved are hymns to the gods, praising them for their help in battle and asking for such benefits as wealth, good health, long life, protection, and victory in battle. Besides hymns of praise, the mantras contain blessings and curses. Originally, the mantras were meant to be chanted as part of religious ritesand this was the primary way in which the people communicated with the gods. It also expresses various beliefs about worshiping god, marriage and funeral rites and animal sacrifice.
                 The hymns are devoted to thirty-three different gods, most of them are nature gods like, Indra; the fire god Agni; the sky god Varuna; the sun god Surya; and Rudra, a god associated with mountains and storms who later developed into the god Shiv. The god Vishnu, who plays only a minor role in the Rig-Vedlater became one of the most important and popular Hindu deity.
